Artist

My life, like that of other people, has taken many unexpected and sometimes challenging turns. After high school, I had three wonderful children, went to college, and got a job teaching art in the Traverse City Area Public Schools... in that order. I taught ceramics, photography, and elementary art at various times.

I have an M.A. in Art from Central Michigan University. My thesis combined photography and fiber art in a series of masks representing the inner and outer selves of human being. Images from some of that work may be seen on the web.

Though I've spent time working with many different media such as fiber, clay, photography and metals, I love the torch and the mystery of melting glass. It has a Tao-ist quality that welcomes giving up control and going with the flow.

I'm now happily married to a wonderful man. My children are on their own paths. I no longer teach in the public schools and spend time creating my own art. Lucky me.
