I like to see how other designers are using lampwork glass beads in their work. In that spirit, I thought I would show some examples of things I've done. Please feel free to copy the designs or use them as a starting point for your own inspiration.
Here's a simple way to make a bracelet or necklace just using wire. No need to worry about crimps and it's easy to add or subtract a link for sizing.
Start with a base of tile beads and thread using a square stitch. Then sew on small lampwork beads and seed beads. A toggle clasp or button and loop makes a good latch.
Make a wire spiral, go up through the focal bead, make a couple of loops for the bail, then back down through the bead and finish with another spiral. Consider adding a small accent bead at the top or bottom as shown.
Start with a classic string of spacers and lampwork beads on a wire with crimped end. Leave a 1/4 inch gap in the length for working space and thread. Use a needle and thread to make fringe and sew them between spacers. Add knots after each for strength.
Make the bracelet about one and a half inches shorter than usual then add wire 'links' on each end. This technique makes it easier to lengthen or shorten the bracelet without restringing or redoing crimps.
Like the bracelet above, there is a wired link on each end and a chain for adjustment. For the dangles, place beads on a head pin and wrap a loop. String the dangles on the beading wire between lampwork and spacers.
The cord comes down through the focal bead and small seed bead then back up. Use this for a quick and simple way to enjoy a favorite focal bead or until you can take time to make a more complex attachment.
